2011 Painted Pumpkin and Jack-o-Lantern Contest!

One of my favorite fall activities is pumpkin picking (have you seen our guide of where to go?); being in the field, searching for one that is not too tall, not too short, not too skinny or fat, but just right.  Why is my search so specific?  Because you need the perfect pumpkin to make…the perfect PAINTED PUMPKIN or JACK-O-LANTERN!

I am happy to announce the 2011 Boulder Creek Steakhouse and Nassau Happening online Jack-o-Lantern/Pumpkin Painting photo contest!! The contest will run from October 3 through October 31, 2011. We’ll post the images of your painted pumpkin or jack-o-lantern right here on the website and the Nassau Happening readers will get to choose their favorite. The jack-o-lantern or painted pumpkin with the most votes on the Nassau Happening website by 11:59pm on October 31 will be named Boulder Creek and Nassau Happening’s Best Pumpkin of Long Island 2011 and be awarded a $50 gift card to Boulder Creek Steakhouse of Hicksville or Brooklyn! Entrants must submit a photo of their jack-o-lantern or painted pumpkin, along with their contact information as required below to contest@nassauhappening.com. All entries must follow official rules and regulations, which are posted below. We will keep adding  jack-o-lanterns and painted pumpkins into the running as we receive them. You can vote once per day, so get your friends and family involved and tell them to vote!  GET CREATIVE AND ENTER NOW!

Here’s how to enter:

Your photo will be your entry for this contest.  Please email your photo to contest@nassauhappening.com Place the words: PUMPKIN CONTEST in the subject line. Please ensure that your photo is in .jpg format and no more than 5MB in size. Please be sure to include your full name, contact info, and (optional) the name of your pumpkin.  We will only be placing your FIRST name on your picture for the public to vote, but we will need to contact you when you WIN!

 

Here’s how to WIN:

The Nassau Happening team will place your picture and your first name in this posting on the NassauHappening.com website.  Use the PollDaddy link to vote for your favorite picture.
The picture with the most votes by 11:59 on October 31, 2011 will win a $50 gift card to Boulder Creek Steakhouse of Hicksville or Brooklyn!

By submitting a photo, you fully agree to Official Rules set forth below and give posting permissions to Nassau Happening, a division of MP Events LLC.

You must be over the age of 18 and a resident of Queens, Nassau or Suffolk County, New York in order to enter.

Keep it clean people. Nassau Happening will attempt to keep all objectionable messages off this forum (a.k.a. nasty comments).  However, it may not be possible to review all messages. Do not post any messages that are obscene, vulgar, sexually oriented, hateful, threatening, or otherwise violate any laws.  They will be deleted and/or reported.  Nassau Happening reserves the right to remove, edit, move or close any thread for any reason.  Nassau Happening shall not be responsible for any comments that are posted and entrant shall have no rights whatsoever against any party for slander, libel or defamation.

Title: NassauHappening 2011 Painted Pumpkin/Jack-o-lantern Contest

Term: October 3-October 31, 2011.  Prize must be claimed within 3 months of contest end date.

Requirements:

Pictures must not be digitally altered or enhanced.
The picture must not contain material that violates or infringes another’s rights, including but not limited to privacy, publicity or intellectual property rights, or that constitutes copyright infringement;
The picture must not, in the sole and unfettered discretion of the Sponsors, contain material that is inappropriate, indecent, obscene, hateful, tortuous, defamatory, slanderous or libelous;
The picture must not, in the sole and unfettered discretion of the Sponsors, contain material that promotes bigotry, racism, hatred or harm against any group or individual or promotes discrimination based on race, sex, religion, nationality, disability, sexual orientation or age; and
The picture must not contain material that is unlawful, in violation of or contrary to the laws or regulations in any state where picture is created.
An entrant may submit more than one picture/entry to the Contest.

To enter:

Email the picture as an attachment to contest@nassauhappening.com. In the subject please put “Pumpkin Contest”
Include name of entry, address, phone number, & email address.
No pictures will be acknowledged or returned. By entering a picture in this Contest, the Entrant grants a nonexclusive, transferable, royalty-free, worldwide license to Nassau Happening, LLC; Happenings Media, LLC; MP Events LLC, Boulder Creek Steakhouse Brooklyn LLC, and Boulder Creek Steakhouse Hicksville LLC, (“Sponsors”) to edit, to adapt and publish such picture throughout the world in perpetuity, without attribution, compensation, permission or further notification to the entrant, his/her successors or assigns, or any other entity, unless prohibited by law.

Contest prizes: Winner will receive a $50 gift card to Boulder Creek Steakhouse, Hicksville or Brooklyn locations only.

Winner determination: Winner will be determined by public voting on the Nassau Happening’s website. Voting will be publicized via various media outlets.

Winner requirements: Nassau Happening will contact the potential prize winner within ten (10) days of winning in order to claim his/her prize. If a potential winner cannot be contacted, fails to execute and return any documents requested by Nassau Happening within the required time period, or prize is returned as undeliverable, potential winner forfeits the prize. If the potential Grand Prize winner is disqualified for any reason, the picture with the next highest amount of votes will win. Prizes can be redeemed after the conclusion of the Contest and verification of each winner. Acceptance of any prize shall constitute and signify winner’s agreement and consent that Sponsors may use the winner’s, name, city, state, likeness, Contest entry and/or prize information in connection with the Contest, in commerce and in all media worldwide, including the Internet, without limitation and without further payment or consideration, except where prohibited by law.

By entering this Contest, all entrants agree to release, discharge, indemnify and hold harmless Sponsors and their respective parent companies, subsidiaries, affiliates, suppliers, distributors, advertising/promotion agencies, and prize suppliers, and each of their respective officers, directors, employees and agents (collectively, the “Released Parties”) from and against any claim or cause of action, including, but not limited to, personal injury, death, or damage to or loss of property, arising out of participation in the Contest, breach of any of the Contest rules and/or receipt or use or misuse of any prize.

Sponsors assume no responsibility for any of the following in connection with the Contest: any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, or delay in operation or transmission; communications line failure; theft or destruction of or unauthorized access to Contest entries; or alteration of entries or votes. Sponsors are also not responsible for any problems with or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer online systems, servers or providers, computer equipment, software, failure of any email entry or vote to be received on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any website, human errors of any kind, fraud by any entrant, Finalist or vote, or any combination thereof, including without limitation any injury or damage to entrants’, voters’ or any other persons’ computers related to or resulting from participation, uploading or downloading of any materials in this Contest.  Further, Sponsors make no warranties whatsoever in connection with this Contest and are not responsible if the Contest winner is not satisfied with the prize in any way.

Entries void if the Sponsors determines the picture to not be an original, or if the entries are illegible, incomplete, damaged, irregular, altered, counterfeit, produced in error, obtained through fraud or theft or otherwise non-compliant with these Official Rules. By participating, entrants and voters also agree (a) to be bound by these Official Rules; and (b) that the decisions of the Sponsors are final and binding with respect to all matters relating to the Contest. By accepting a prize, each winner agrees that Sponsors may use each winning picture and each winner’s name, picture, likeness, and/or voice in any publicity or advertising relating to the Contest without further compensation or approval (except where prohibited by law). The Sponsors reserves the right to verify the validity and originality of any entry and/or entrant (including an entrant’s identity and address) and to disqualify any entrant submits an entry that is not in accordance with these Official Rules or who tampers with the entry or voting process. Failure by the Sponsors to enforce any of its rights at any stage does not constitute a waiver of those rights.

Right to Cancel or Suspend Contest: If for any reason the Contest is not capable of running as planned, due to infection by computer virus, bugs, worms, trojan horses, denial of service attacks, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes beyond the control of Sponsors that corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity, or proper conduct of this Contest, including but not limited to the prize provider’s failure to provide the prize for any reason, Sponsors reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to cancel, terminate, modify, or suspend the Contest. In such event, no prizes will be awarded.

Winners List: Winners’ names will be available online at the Nassau Happening Facebook fan page, at www.NassauHappening.com, and www.twitter.com/NassauHappening after completion of the contest. We will also contact the winner directly via email.

Laws: This Contest is subject to and shall be governed by the applicable laws of the State of New York.

Data privacy: By entering, entrants agree that personal data, including without limitation name and address, may be processed, shared, and otherwise used for the purposes and within the context of the Contest and any other purposes outlined in these Official Rules. The data may also be used by the Sponsors in order to verify the participant’s identity, postal address, and telephone number or to otherwise verify the participant’s eligibility to participate in the Contest. Participants have the right to access, review, rectify, or cancel any personal data held by Sponsors by writing to marissa@nassauhappening.com.
